Nurturing Parenting/Harlan Independent Family Resource Center/Harlan Independent Schools

"Nurturing Parenting" focuses on child development, effective communication, stress management, behavior management, parenting teens, and alternatives to spanking.  Additional info about domestic violence as well as family rules, morals and values will also be discussed.  Offered through Harlan FRYSC and funded by Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky, this 12 week class is free and open to the public.  Classes are currently held on Tuesdays at 1:00 and 5:00 at the Harlan Public Library.

The FRYSC is also working with the Commonwealth Center For Fathers and Families to do a Summer Program, "Back On Track", exclusively for fathers. This will be a six week workshop. The chosen topics, and guest speakers were selected to help the fathers "reconnect" with their children.
